The development of the USS New Jersey BB16 White Fleet Model and designs that show the life and death of the USS New Jersey BB16.
We will attempt to reenact the days of the BB16 and other White fleet battleships of 1907-1909.
The USS New Jersey BB16 Project Site is under development by Long Studios Interns and team members. Over time we will include web technology that will enable you to someday walk on the Battleship.

About the Model
The USS New Jersey BB16 Battleship 3D Model was designed for News paper and Illustration in 2003 by Kirk Longendyke. In the day it was design in sections due to the high resolution needed and rendered for illustration in 11 to 18 hrs depending on how the computer felt at the time. The computer could not handle the ship in full view port. It was designed on a Pentium 4 2.2ghz ht PC with 2gb of ram and top of the line graphics hardware. It had over 379,000 polygons and was not even considered high resolution until filters were applied during rendering that jumped it to 1,140,452,240 polygons.
Today in the Long Studios 3D lab we can load the model in 3DStudio Max 121 times and move all of the models in a rotation macro with no resolution or motion problems. We can render the model in full view in less than 4 seconds.
